Hunter Lovell
Political Journalist

About Me
My name is Hunter Lovell. I'm a recent graduate of LSU's Manship School of Mass Communication. I earned my bachelor's degree in political communication.
I worked in student media all four years of college, serving as an anchor, reporter and producer for LSU's student-run television station, Tiger TV. I've covered catastrophic events such as the historic flooding across the Baton Rouge area in August 2016 to sports such as LSU football and basketball. I even hosted my own weekly political segment on national and local politics during my last semester of college.
Aside from my work at Tiger TV, I covered the 2019 Louisiana legislative session for the Manship School Statehouse Bureau. I wrote daily articles on topics ranging from abortion to fantasy sports betting on deadline. My stories appeared in more than 30 news outlets statewide, including bylines in The Advocate, WWL and The Daily Advertiser.
I interned in Washington, D.C., in the summer of 2018 for the National Journalism Center, and I was placed at the Washington Free Beacon as an investigative reporting intern. I spent the summer covering Capitol Hill, labor issues and foreign policy, which allowed me to gain newsroom experience at a media outlet in the nation's capital. I gained a keen interest in national politics after my internship at the Free Beacon, and I have a strong desire to return to Washington and continue to make a difference in political journalism.
